What were the settings though? If you set the Edius exporter settings to 9m, sure it's going to take a lot less time that an encode at 20m. Plus, a PAL encode will take less time than an NTSC encode due to the number of total frames to encode.
Please give the exact settings and clip properties so that a closer comparison can be made.

With Skylake boards you have to use the latest Intel GPU driver that ends 4300.

Could you post a screen shot of your encode settings for that 30 minute encode.
I would like to compare my 4790k against the 6700k encoding times.

OK, Jerry,
I updated my original post (#20).

And, I test also with UHD footages (Sony X70- XAVC LG)
Project : UHD 2160p25 - PAL - TL duration : 5'
Footages : UHD 2160p25
Export H264/AVC : 2160p25 (same settings as in HD)
Export with QS : 2'
Export without QS : 12'

Here is what I get with the 4790k:
QS Export to UHD 216025p=2 minutes 47 seconds
CPU Export to UHD 216025p -14 minutes

The 6700k is a bit faster, which it should be.

If you're buying a new system, definitely go that route.

If you have a 4790k, is 47 seconds enough improvement to justify a system
upgrade.

UPDATE: I now have UHD 25p Long GOP 100 files. The 5 minute encode took 2 min 19 sec.
I can also get 3 layers of this to play in UHD. I can also get that with GH4 files. Changing to 10 bit, both choke.

I start from 2600K to go to 6700K, the step is high :)

To test the RT, I used UHD clips 2160p25 XAVC long gop (4:2:0 8 bits) :
- project 1080 50i : up to 6 layers with PIP2D for each track.
- project 2160 25p : up to 3 layers with PIP2D for each track.

Now, I struggle for more stability with Edius 8.1
I discovered the last driver (10.5.1) for the BMD Intensity Pro 4K leads to W10 blue screen.
After reinstalled the 10.4.3, it seems more solid, but not perfect : 2/3 crashes, even with all BMD drivers removed.
Humm .. I cross the fingers.
Third party products installed: Vistitle, Mercalli 4, Izotope Ozone 6.

We use the BM 10.4.3 drivers under Win 10 and never had a Blue-screen

Yes, 10.4.3 seems OK.
But the latest one : 10.5.1 is wrong.
On IP4K, it's missing : convert signal 2160 to 1080 and line in , not fonctionnal.

Edit : The conversion 2160p to 1080p works, but not with any monitor .
Not with mine : Sony 32 EX500, but with a cheap Lilliput 663, it's OK ...
Strange.
