Default Intensity Pro 4K fan noise

Dear all,

is anyone using the BM Intensity Pro 4K. How terrible is the fan noise. I read a lot in different Forums about this issue and wanted to know if it's true?
Anyone out there who is using the 4K pro and can describe how noisy the card is.

Also i wanted to know, if the new Drivers from BM could solve the Problem?

Many thanks in advance.
Werner

Hi Werner

consider the quiet fan version from MLH as the fan noise will annoy you like a cricket (Heuschrecke) that does not leave your room

Just update to the 10.4.1 drivers (released 10 June). They stop the fan noise. Only down side is at the moment there's no auto-detection of UHD sources through HDMI and no output in Premiere Pro CC or AfterFX, but they work fine in Edius.
BM have already fixed the Adobe issue and will be releasing a new driver 'shortly'

I was wary of getting an Intensity Pro 4K because of all the negative I had read about the fan noise.

When it arrived a few months ago I installed it with the 10.4.0 drivers and had no complaints about any special disturbing fan noise.

BUT: The computer I installed it on was not completely silent itself. There has always been a slight hissing from the internal fans.
Adding the Intensity Pro 4K did not add to this ambient noise.

I imagine that if you have a really silent machine and add an Intensity Pro 4K, you may notice a slight hiss from the fan.
Also maybe my own hearing is not up to scratch and a pair of younger ears might pick up more noise than I am hearing.

I have had no difference in the audio recorded for tutorials before and after the installation of the Intensity.
Regards
Douglas

Hi all,

i thought about buying the silent Version from Magic multimedia in Germany, but 100EURO more for "only a silent fan" is too much. That's why i wanted to know about your expierence with the Card and the new Drivers. It Looks like BM could fix this issue. I'll give a try with the "normal" Intensity Pro 4K and see what's going on :-)

BR.

They have fixed it, just use the 10.4.1 drivers as I said in my previous post

First, you can buy the silent version from authorized Austrian dealers also.

Second, the 100 Euro more is a good deal considering that the card is still under warranty.

Not really that good a deal when the new drivers fix the problem.

Also you have no way of knowing what the new fan speed control will do to these swapped out fans, they may then run too slow

For €100, is it just a different fan on the Intensity Pro 4K compared to the OEM fan?

Yep, they install a different fan and heat-sink and charge €100 for it. Changing the fan and heat-sink is simple, and you can get a good quality replacement for around €20-30. When it comes to the warranty, all they have to do is get you to send the faulty card back to them at which point they just put back the stock fan and heat-sink before sending it back to BM. Anyone can do that.

As I said, there's no need to do this as the new drivers make the fan quiet.
