Default FCB doesn't accelerate standard DVD in Edius or Neo2?

Would someone please confirm this? Based upon what I read in the manual, and trying Neo2 with my FCB, the export to disc for standard DVD is not accelerated by FCB.

I do see that I can create an SD MPEG2 file using Firecoder Writer, and I'm able to transcode a 2 hour AVI in about 30 minutes (about 4x as advertised). Of course, I want that capability with the timeline, cropping, etc., I have on Neo2.

Is there a setting I'm missing? Is this coming in a new version?

Correct. We don't know why because there's no company rep with one and those who develop it don't post here. You could always post in the requests section if you feel it is worthwhile.

Shueardm:

From your exerience, what's the fastest alternative to this? Do any of the other cards or SW from GV accelerate this use case?

I do only simply editing (block out the overscan, trim a little, add chapters), but I need to do a lot of them. So I need the encoding and building of the disc to go as fast as possible.

Thanks.

Simply export the timeline to Canopus AVI and then use FireCoder writer.

Of course, I can do that, but exporting a 2 hour video to AVI requires 45-60 minutes. Remember, I'm doing a ton of these, and it is more about being as fast as possible.

Fair enough. I can export a fair bit quicker with my CPU's so it doesn't bother me much.

Just for information I have recently used FCW/FCBlu to encode and burn two PAL DVDs. An 87 minute timeline required 30 minutes from start of encode to disc eject; a 77 minute timeline required 24 minutes. In both instances that was using HQ fine files.

I guess you went straight to DVD from FCW/FCB, right? I expect that to be quick, but will have no menus.

Do you know if there's a way to add the FCW/FCB encoded MPEG file to Edius Neo, and then export to disc in such a way that the disc burner doesn't re-encode? That would be a reasonable compromise for me.
