Default UHD to HD when importing to Timeline

Version 9.40.5106

When bringing UHD from bin to timeline in a 1080 project the layouter automatically crops in to the UHD resolution giving a quarter screen view.

Is this the norm?

Are you saying the whole frame edge to edge is not visible, just a zoomed portion?
Put a hd frame on the timeline the layouter defaults should be 0 or 100%

Did you bother to read what I posted?
For HD your Layouter DEFAULTS should look like the attachment.
For UHD the stretch will be 50% GIVING FULL SCREEN, before you do anything with it.

His is a strange one, because the layouter setting does not kick in until the clip is on the timeline, never in the preview mon, not here with 9WG

Maybe I'm not understanding your point but:
Clip in Bin- Good
If layouter deault is wrong then when the clip is placed on the TL it will then go
ape$hit ..as in look wrong.
I've only had coffee this morning....
OK so its happening in the source window, that is odd but I would put the clip on the TL and still check layouter.

First thing to try.
Create a New user profile.
Select it as the profile
Exit EDIUS
Start EDIUS
Do the same test

he is not placing the clip on the timeline, according to his clip, he drags it to the preview player, this player disregards the layouter settings
