I can explain why I am worked up (but not so much now that I had some calming words from Steve about NX drivers for Edius 6).

The NX card while out for six years can still be used for another six years. Like I stated, it can edit 1080p. It is not outdated.

I also want the improvements in Edius 6, I have been wanting them for quite some time now as does the rest of the community.

Skraja, I will send you an e-mail when I go shopping for a new HD broadcast production monitor (not a computer monitor) and mabye we can split the cost? :) Just kidding but these things are not cheap. Mine is component only...

Thanks for the posting from the GV folks. Communication usually diffuses most things.

No one has presented this bit of info, so I will.
Originally, the NX/SP product was dead. That's right, no new
drivers were to be written. If not for persistence by quite a
few GV insiders, you would not be complaining about
'when' but 'why not.'
So keep that in mind when you make that next
GV bashing post.

Really? Why then it still in the stores? If they had a "dead" product, they should remove them from the stores long ago! I can post a link with the info that it is in store now with the regular price tag on it. This means that somebody may come to the store, pick a NX box and surely expect some service and respect from the company that made it...
Take a look:
http://www.future-micro.ca/grass-val...x-express.html
The same price it was few years ago... absolutely new product.

Ok Mike,
Are the ones in the stores selling it with
Edius 6? No!
(There are 2010 cars still being sold as new
even though they are no longer
building 2010's.
They still work as advertised.)

Were they going to be sold with Edius 6?
No!
At this point. I doubt that it will be sold
with 6, only existing owners, and those
that buy the instock products will
get the update.
It is a legacy product! Plain and simple.

My original post was only
mentioning the fact that if not for some persistent
key GV insiders there wouldn't be any drivers.
Hammering me about the end of the
NX/SP product will get you nowhere.

We try not to do that hense the fact that the NX Card Drivers are being worked on.

Besides... look at ALL the other manufacturers and you will see that their history is just what you are saying what we are doing... Every year Matrox and Pinnacle brought out new cards and if you wanted those features you had to upgrade the card and this was when they ran in the thousands.

We, on the other hand continue to create drivers for cards as long as 5 years after they are no longer being produced.

So I can't really can't agree with you on this point.

Default Thank you

Thank you...
to all of those who fought to keep the NX alive.
Having a system that 'does what it say on the tin' - all day, every day...I would be sad to change it.
Having the extras that E6 is going to give, and have all the ins/outs provided by my NX and bay - it will beat the rest hands down..

Thanks again
David

I agree. Thank you for your efforts. I have expressed doubt in this thread but after clarification all seems to have been taken care of internally at GV. I will continue to wait with patience for Edius 6.

I look at it this way. GV is releasing Version 6 early. Not that the drivers are late. If you look at it this way GV is going out of its way to accommodate their users. As a module is ready they are releasing it. Great. We get to work with new software sooner rather than later.

The short answer is, Yes. Here is the catch and
the long answer.
Everytime you boot up Windows is going
to look for the drivers and bug the &$$&@@
out of you until you install them.
So if you overlook the repeated bugging,
you can leave the cards in.
