I am about to set up a system with a Gigabyte board and see what happens.

Pauls - stupid question but I assume you updated the bios on your board? I notice the board I used to use for my 8700K had a bios update to support the 9900K.
Remember that on the gigabyte cards you have to set in bios enable for igpu if you leave auto does not see it is like it was disable.
Yes, the bios is updated to the latest version in my case f11
supports 9900k

Default Change from i7-8700K to i9-9900K

I want to buy a new computer. I do not know, if i should buy the i9-9900K? If you compare the speed from a i7-8700K and a i9-9900K. With the i9-9900K, a clear speed advantage can be noticed?

Different in price is approximately 100.

thank for your feedback.

saveman168 get the 9900K. I did some speed comparisons between the two processors and it is quite a lot better for plain number crunching. For example a Cinema 4D render which took 3mins 39 seconds on the 8700K was 2mns 28 on the 9900 - about 30% faster. Using EDIUS software encoding for H.264 was about 18% faster. It is harder to judge timeline performance but just based on that I though it was worth the extra.

On the subject of drivers 6025 is still the version that works best for me. Windows updated it automatically to 6074 and now I can't get QS at all in EDIUS with or without the monitor connected to the Intel GPU and regardless of which is the primary. I will download 6373 and see what I get however, I have never been able to get QS working without a screen connected to the Intel somehow.

I tried the driver but it didn't work for me
The one that appears to work best so far is 25.20.100.6471
Anyone notice that Intel seem to be not showing drivers at time
Under current 6471 doesnt show under others

I got Intel I7 8700K for a few months now, back then when I got it and after fresh WIN 10 PRO 64bit and EDIUS 9 install I had some issues with quicksync.

I'm shooting with Panasonic GH5, usually mp4 100mbps 10bit 50fps. So I mainly edit 2 multicam, weddings, about 2 hours long. Primary color correction on most of the clips. Projects would be simple 1080/25p and I usually render h264 mp4 VBR 17-25mbps.
The render with quicksync enabled would usually stop somewhere randomly, presenting error, don't remember exactly which, maybe "render failed" or something like that. If I would render something short, 5-10 minutes long video, it would usually render correctly and of course faster. Longer videos would be the problem. I had a lot work to do since then and I didn't have time to search for solution so I just disabled quicksync for my renders.

That was all before yesterday when I checked for a new graphics driver for I7 8700k - Intel UHD Graphics 630, hoping I'll get quicksync to work correctly. After installing it, all I got was super long QS renders. It was like, 7-8 minutes rendering without QS and around 25 minutes with QS enabled.
Then in search for solution I started to read this thread. I got GTX 1060 GPU, and when setting in windows Intel's 630 as primary GPU, quicksync worked correctly, I got speedy renders again. I tried it only for a few minutest to test it. So, I set my GTX 1060 as primary GPU again and tried to install all older drivers for Intel 630, non of them worked. Every time sloooow renders with quicksync enabled.
At the end, as I read in some of your comments, I uninstalled Intel's 630 driver manually, from add/remove programs, something I never did in my previous attempts, installed newest driver again and restarted PC.
Now, it works perfectly with QS enabled, even when rendering longer footage, I don't get any errors now. One thing to note, a month ago I switched from 25p to 50p projects and rendering at 1080/50p, that's the only difference.
I did a little test, multicam 1080/50p 100mpbs 10bit from 2 GH5's, PCC on all clips, some with opticall flow enabled, stabilization here and there, masks here and there:
2h 25min footage - QS enabled - 2h rendering
2h 25min footage - QS disabled - 2h 50min rendering
Pretty happy with results. I hope someone benefits from this, maybe just simple manual driver uninstall and install again solves problems on other processors too.
