Default Choppy/Lag Playback of All Files in Edius 6

Hi
Edius 6.02: When I use playback (player or recorder) I get lag in certain spots of the video happens very often. lag meaning that the video slows briefly then speeds up to back to proper point. audio is normal. Doesnt matter if its 30 min or 3hr vid. Could this be a hardware issue? I mostly use analog (via ADVC300) but also DV. The lag is quite noticeable. I am certain the footage is not flawed in anyway as I have ran tests to determine that. Also the footage plays fine in media player (no lag or catchup).
Project settings:
SD 8bit 720x486 59.91fps 4:3 (also happens in HD project settings)
Running: Intel quadcore i5 2400 @3.01 GHz 8GB/64 bit Nvidia 9500
Also I see Edius 6.05 is available but where is the link to DL it?
Thank you

login at www.grassvalley.com and download 6.05

when the playback slows down, look at the buffer value in the taskbar and let us know what it shows at time of slowdown

Updated to 6.05
Buffer:185/186. It remains constant (at slowdown or normal) at 185/186 or 186/186 throughout the entire video. Disk: 27% is being used.
Needless to say: Edius is the only program running.

go to system settings and tick stop playback on frame drop
http://www.videoproductions.com.au/e...p-playback.png

then see if playback stops instead of slowdown

I checked "Stop playback at Frame Drop". This has no effect on the problem. The video file continues to play.
Playback buffer size: 128mb
Buffered frames before playback: 5 frames
The lag always happens at the same points in the video (appears at a consistent rate also, approx every 2-3 seconds)regardless of trimming and/or adding a separate video file with or with out edit.

The 128mb buffer frame setting and your getting 186/186 buffer frame playback setting sounds off to me. Normally 128mb buffer frame setting will get you 32/32 playback buffer.

he is using SD footage in an SD project setting, in which case it sounds right

1) Updated to Edius 6.05 from 6.02
2) Disabled Windows Defender and alike.
3) Same problem continues.
4) Uninstalled Adobe Prem Elements 7 (garbage anyway)
5) Uninstalled Edius 6.05, as after I updated Edius 6.05 has been locking up and "not responding". Also received an error msg from Edius " PCI: busy ...? ...? .. ."
6) Uninstalled Edius 6.05
7) Reinstalled Edius 6.02 from Disc and NOT updated to 6.05
8) Now when I make any edit the program hesitates and sometimes "stops responding". (almost always stops respon when I load a video file from the bin)
9) Burn DVD of the footage (SD) that was the problem of this original post (lag). What I determined is that the lag or choppy-ness does NOT appear on the burned DVD. If it does I cant notice it. So the original lag problem is on playback only, not to burn. I did not attempt to burn a blu-ray.
10) Now I hav eto wonder when Im in a middle of a project will it stop responding and my work is out the window.

you have a computer problem, it is not an EDIUS problem, be sure to update to 6.05 because with 6.02 when autosave kicks in, the program stops responding

start here and make sure no antivirus program is enabled, and if it is, exclude the EDIUS program and video storage
