Default Source file overwritten

When editing with Edius v 9, it appears to overwrite the source file while saving .. I would prefer the source files be guarded against ANY changes. Cannot get back to the original material if the source file is changed during the editing process. Can I override this “feature”?

Hmm never seen this in EDIUS in all years using it. Editing in EDIUS is none destructive.
Can you explain a bit more?

The source file doesn't change unless you change it. What makes you think it is changing? Maybe you set an In and Out on a clip and that is what you see in the Bin?

If "source file" means clips - that never happened to me.

If "source file" means the project-file - save does it and save as does it when using the same filename (but with a warning).

Anytime Edius saves a file to an existing file name it should ask you if you want to overwrite the file. If you are not getting a warning about overwrite I doubt a file is being overwritten. If you are getting a warning change the name and save.

Maybe the confusion is due to a exported file automatically being added to the bin?
