Default 4K preview & time line staggering

When I preview any 4K material (LX100) both the play as well as the timeline play doesn't play the stream seamlessly, it staggers along. Is there any way to make this more fluent?
My computer is a Quad-Core AMD 3.9Ghz 16GB RAM 256 SAMSUNG EVO 840 SSD plus a couple of 2TB spin drives. Graphics card is a Gigabyte Geforce GTX750Ti.
I am at a loss with regards to the performance since I can play ALL 4K video in VLC and other players ...
When I start EDIUS, the software shows the following message briefly: "Device doesn't support the current format, switching to Software Mode."
HELP!

Default

Try converting the files to HQX and report back. If they still don't play, it will come down to elements or all of your system not being able to handle UHD files.
For the second part read this thread post #14

Media players are completely different animals than NLE's.

Default Found the solution ...

After I posted my question I did a little Edius search, not on this form but elsewhere and found the suggestion with regards to the conversion ...
Originally I had watched a youtube video tutorial by Edius where the tutor uses a GH4 and uses the files "as they are" ...
After the conversion the program ran incredibly well.
Thanks for your help!
