Default ProCoder 3, codec CDVC not playing back under Advanced setting

NOTE: codec CDVC is the Canopus DV codec (cdvccodc.dll 6.0.0.10)

This is so strange ... I just installed PC3 and tried about everything possible to get the "Advanced ..." tab to play back these files, so I can perform some minor edits at the beginning and the end of these huge files. All I am getting is a blank screen, and clicking on the "Video Filter" tab I get "Can't render preview" under "Original"

I have Edius 6 installed, and have had PC2 before installing PC3. I uninstalled PC2, installed PC3 3.591 and upgraded to 3.6, then tried a "repair" of PC3, then an uninstall, then a reinstall ... and still no go? (restarted each time between these steps.)

The preview during an export is working?!? Strange.

Any other ideas would be very much appreciated!

Is the ProCoder dongle inserted?

The export preview shows video prior to compression - it doesn't use the Canopus DV codec.

Also make sure you don't have any "codec packs" (K-Lite, etc) installed - those often break things.

If it fails with Brandon his advice maybe you can try the following:
1 install Procoder with update
2 install EDIUS 6.05 after.

Now check if it works.

I just checked and on 2 systems here I have Procoder working without an issue.

Do not really want to touch Edius 6 install at this time ... can't afford things getting worst.

Thanks for checking on your other systems!

Are you suggesting uninstalling everything first? Edius install files are sitting in the same temp directory as the PC3 files ...

Your codec list looks okay.

It could also possibly be just a failure to create the playback window, rather than a failure of the codec to decode it. Try rendering a Windows Media file and see if you can play that in ProCoder.

If not, it's an overlay thing. Though the fact that you see the preview output tells me it's probably not, but still good to check.

OK - today I uninstalled everything. Resinstalled ProCoder 3 (last version) and, after that, Edius (last version) ... and it is still not giving me video in the Advanced window.

I also tried running it as Administrator, but that did not make a difference.

I rendered a Windows Media file and it is playing in the Advanced option, just like H.264 files and DVSD encoded files are, but not CDVC encoded files? Strange.

Not sure what an overlay thing would be ... Any hint on how to check for that? Thanks ...

Do the CDVC-encoded files play back in Windows Media Player?

Yes - these files play back just fine in Windows Media Player, but not in ProCoder 3 (I do have a copy of ProCoder 2 somewhere, should I try installing it on a different PC and see if I can play that same file back with ProCoder 2?)

If it plays in Windows Media Player then it shouldn't be a codec issue.
You have me stumped.
