Default Problem burning DVD in 9.4

Trying to burn my first disc in 9.4, a standard DVD NTSC. I guess I have to load the style templates because only one is there.

However the main issue is why isn't there a 480p option - all I get for DVD is 59i?

Hopefully I won't be doing this very often but where are the templates?

NTSC DVD only supports interlaced playback at 29.97i/59.94i (depending if you are referring to frames or fields) or 23.98 using a soft 2:3 pulldown in which case the soft pulldown flag instructs the player add the pulldown to make a 29.97i output.

I don't personally use the built in DVD burner, so I can't comment on the process to do 23.98 with a soft pulldown in Edius.

The DVD templates are downloadable from the same GV page where you find the Edius download. They are called DVD Menu Style if I recall correctly.

Standard NTSC DVD is interlaced 59.94i sometimes stated as 29.97fps ( this is different to 29.97P ) 29.97fps like 25i indicates the timecode synced with interlace sequence starts. Beginning of the odd and even fields and also the timecode which then increments every two fields. A source of all sorts of confusion. There are some progressive options but most DVD are interlaced.

Thanks, haven't burned one in quite a while, way out of practice. Overall the output is pretty clean from Edius but some frustration with trying to make settings in the Edius Burner's font and FX settings. Just haven't been burning enough DVDs to warrant outboard software. I couldn't use anything but flush left in Burners font editor, is that normal?

I do my encode and authoring outside EDIUS. For long programs like mine of about 2 hours one needs two pass encoding for quality not available in EDIUS without the plugin from TMPGenc and I prefer the added control from the full version. I export a HQX file and do the rest outside. As to authoring I use DVDArchitect which also has more control.

A good solution that always works for me is to edit/author the DVD or Blu-ray disc from the Edius timeline, and 'write to file.' Then, burn the discs using ImgBurn or Nero. Apparently, at least in the past, the disc-burning function within Edius was less-reliable than using ImgBurn or Nero.

This advice from much more learned editors has served me well.

Was able to get Edius 9.4 to behave and burn my disc though the interface for disc burning is way flakey compared to earlier versions of Edius IMO.
