I wonder if it is that Edius is not reading something in the metadata.

I say that because if I invert the phone 180į and make a video, it shows the right way up both in Edius and the other players that I have tried.

It seems that Edius is the only program not to invert the image if the phone is recording the "wrong way up"

Hi
Iíve tied this on Samsung S3 and A5 2017 and it is always the same problem.

All the phones mentioned appear to be Samsung phones or maybe not... When I came upon this problem before I thought it was just a feature of EDIUS and used the layouter.

I know the discussion is about video but it is the same with JPG stills etc.

It gets changed even before it is input into EDIUS.

If you put a clip/jpeg on the Desktop and from the bin you start to add file, when clicking on the clip/jpeg on the desktop the image in the properties window gets turned upside down but the image on the desktop is still the way other programme interoperate them. That is they have been changed to be the correct way up!

Ken

So this is not a new issue? I don't usually use phone footage, so haven't come across this before.

Is this an Edius bug that needs fixing? Usually the moderators say that they will pass it on to the developers if it can be replicated.

Strange that Mync displays correctly, but not Edius.

Hi
Just for a bit of fun I imported the clips into AVID MC and MC didnít turn them up the correct way, they are still upside down as taken by the phone, just like how EDIUS works.

OK that's interesting. Still doesn't explain why other players and Mync manage to display properly (invert to the correct view) and the NLE can't.

I would have thought a broadcaster that might receive phone footage would need such a feature?

Did anyone ever figure this out? Do I have a setting off? I'm using Edius 8.53 and when I play I-phone footage in any player it plays fine but when I import it into Edius it's sideways. I know I can rotate footage via Edius or shoot video by turning phone but why does it always play correct on any computer player and not Edius? Thanks

if you view the phone clip in media info, is it 1080x1920 or 1920x1080 etc.?
