Default MAGY Codec

An ongoing saga...
A client delivered "original footage" from a conference. On importing the files Edius said NO. Mediainfo said MAGY which is MAGIC YUV
Installed the codec but my question is, Surely this cannot be the original footage - no camera uses this codec, does it?
The footage supplied from Day 2 is in mp4. I think someone is pulling my.....!

Itís probably the unedited footage transcoded to MagicYUV, but not the out-of-camera recording. No camera uses that codec natively.

Have exported MagicYUV out of Vesgas (8bit) and Edius was able to read the file. Source material 4K.

I was comparing GV avi out of Vegas with Magic from Vegas. Could see no difference but magic avi was smaller. Have no 10 bit material to hand so not tested.

If you look at the 'magic' site you will see there are 2 versions of the codec and many variations. FFMPEG cannot out put to magic so no good as an intermediate.

I have no idea who shot the footage but once I installed the codec it worked. You would think if they were going to convert the footage it would be the same for each conference session. Obviously short on braincells...and telling the truth as this is not the source.
