Default ?Newblue title pro 5 VS vistitle 2.8

Just upgraded from E. 5.51 to E.9.

I'm a fan of presets (tweeked to suit your purpose) for faster editing.

I'm kind of mourning loss of 3D PinP, with its presets. I read all the forum comments that layouter is great....but why no presets?

ALSO........looking over the free newblue title pro 5. Free and presets are good. But in forum I see lots of people using vistitle.

Is vistitle great enough to put out the $ for it?

Thanks for any comments comparing newblue title pro VS vistitle 2.8 with plug-in packages?

UPDATE: Just went into editing w/ edius VS Compatible 3rd party products of forum. This answers my question! Vistitle seems better!

Or as GV moderator said...."no brainer"

Lori

First off Layouter. I think many people groaned when the 3DPIP was dropped-and then they discovered the versatility of Layouter. Nothing is perfect but Layouter combines 2D-3D and all you could do in Imaginate. With regard to presets, you can make and save your own and then tweak them. Play with Layouter and search for the tutorials online. It is very powerful.

When it comes to Title packages, some are happy with QuickTitler, personally I find it awful. I'm a fan of VisTitle have had it for 4 years and still discover things I can do with it. I would highly recommend you also buy Jerry's Tutorials, www.sgdvtutorials.com. I have not used NB Titler enough to comment.

I, like some others here, also have in my toolbox BluffTitler. Inexpensive, capable of some amazing stuff, (as well as incredibly tacky stuff too) It is NOT a plugin, has a little bit of a learning curve but loads of tutorials come with it as well as a forum that the developer responds to. Worth ever $€ !

Thanks for insights. I'm immersed in layouter tutorials as we speak.

RE: titlers. Just purchased vistitler + plug-ins, which I think I'll be happy with.

RE: New Blue titler......it has a tendency to crash my Edius.

With New Blue you will need a very good CPU and GPU to push around some of those preset templates. There are plenty of templates to be had.

With Vistitle you get not only a titler, but if you buy the plugins you get a Modeler, 2D to 3D Title and Geometric creation, and a particle engine.
You have more levels of manual creativity than New Blue offers.

Download the trial and give it a try.

If you are still using a GTX 460, that would probably be the reason for the crashes. Edius will work well with that as long as you don't try projects with a lot of layers. If you are working with 4K files, I would look into a new GPU with no less than 8gb of memory.
You will see http://sgdvtutorials.com/ in my signature. There are several free tutorials on the samples page.
If you have any questions concerning the paid tutorials, PM me.

The reason most of us show May 2007 as the joining date is because the forum was re-born that month. There was a Canopus forum in the mid 90's, then an earlier Edius forum around 2002-2003(I think), and then the revamp of 2007.

Jerry....thanks for input. Just upgraded to GTX 1070 8GB.

My computer builder said he had installed the GTX 460 because he had it laying around.......and didn't charge for it.

Sheeba..... I used nb titler3 and I dont mind it, but u need to understand it and how it works and how it doesnt work on the edius timeline. I am still using edius 7, and it does what it needs for me and its stable. But will move over to E9 early next year.... as I am starting to do more colour grading, and E7 is a little limited with 10bit options.
I have looked at vis titler and its good in many ways but not sold on it yet.
the reason I haven't use it is because I use after effects to do most of my titles. its a long way of doing titles but it works for me.
I guess at the end of the day, choose a package that suits your needs.
