it is hidden by default so that users get the pleasure of finding easter eggs

select mpeg export
tick enable conversion at bottom left
all presets are revealed

Andrew
why? you can make any preset with any custom setting yourself by customizing a preset and saving it as your own, such as 352x288 for VCD

That is correct.
I think Andrew has over looked the fact that you can adjust the settings.

Have you guys tried this? If you choose MPEG1 they you do not get any option to set the data rate - it appears to be fixed at 1.8Mbs which is not VCD.
If you select "generic MPEG" they all the options are for MPEG2 not MPEG1. With the MPEG2 one you can set the data rate. I dont think there is a way to make VCD with EDIUS 5 - although you could probably export and AVI and use Mobie Factory.

It was never big in the Uk but my wife is Turkish and her family watch them all the time. They dont have VHS or even DVD but do have VCD. So it depends where you live.
I used to use EDIUS to make VCDs of the family for them - now I have to edit in edius and encode in something else.

I would love to see the Eurovison song contest on VCD, it must look compressed especially with all the steadycam work they used in Russia (the Turks ranked pretty good this year)

meanwhile, I always use Tmpg 4 Xpress for things like that, very fast and good and way sharper than PCE ever was

It should be possible, that I agree on, but to make your life easier why not give them a DVD player with xmas.

I gave my Chinese in laws a DVD player and slowly forced the rest of the family to upgrade or always visit grandma and watch there :)

I gave them a laptop but they still want to watch VCDs. I have loads of ways of making them just EDIUS 5 is not one of them.
Eurovision looked good in HD and this year the Uk actually did well, although, as my wife pointed out in 5th place behind turkey.
