Default Edius 9 problem on timeline

Hi, I have installed Edius 9 in a PC with Win 10 of a friend of mine. He doesn't know Edius and he checking it and making some tests. He making a simple 4K project and when he drags a clip to the timeline, he always sees a small portion of the clip attached to the other one and he needs always to delete it. That piece of clip is just 1 second or less. Why does he have that problem? How can he solve it?
I attach the video.Thanks.

If I am not mistaken the clips are p2?
If so use the correct method, via the source browser to bring the files in.

I will ask if they are p2 files but I think they are mp4 UHD.

I don't understand: "f so use the correct method, via the source browser to bring the files in.".
What do you mean precisely? Why do you think he doesn't add the clips correctly?
Thank you.
