LUT's should be considered a starting point. You pick the LUT that is the closest to the desired effect and then work from there.

If I purchase 8.11 now (I have 6.07 and want to upgrade) will I have to pay anything additional to get 8.2?

Everything within the 8.x range of updates should be within the 1x purchase price, being it update, upgrade or crossgrade.

Last time GV made a huge architecturale change from 32bit version 6.08 to 64bit 6.5, this was a paid upgrade and from there onwards there was always confusion with users if, out of the blue you need to pay for a .dot upgrade

It would have simplified matters if the would have called it version 7 instead of 6.5

What about the EDIUS I see on Ebay? Are these legit places to purchase a downloadable Edius for half price?

Are you sure 6.5 was 64bit? I was pretty sure that Edius 7 was the first 64bit version

The title has '-EDU' on the end which implies it's an educational version. I'd always be wary of buying software off Ebay unless it's from a reputable reseller

Then why all plug ins needed to be purchased again ?
I'm not 100% sure about 64bit but something drastically changed.

I know I skipped 6.5 because 7 was just around the corner.

I could install it if I can find the time, it's on my shelf in the wrapping as it bought it with an upgrade to 7 just weeks later.

Well, there are also some that don't have EDU but say "FULL VERSION" and are $50-$100 less than what they sell it here locally.

I just don't want to buy off Ebay and then have an issue with the license.

If you had paid for versions of the plug-ins then they worked in 6.5, the reason a lot of people had to buy new plug-ins was because the free ones in 6.0 weren't given away in 6.5 so if you wanted to continue using them you had to buy them.
If I remember correctly in the very first version of 6.5 you could just copy over some of the plug-ins from 6 such as Izotope and they would work, but GV had to put something in to the later versions to stop it working as Izotope didn't want people doing that.
