A little disappointed to see that Edius 8 Pro loses some functions that are in Edius 7

indeed, some basic stuff has NO in front of it.

Looks like the 8 PRO is the new NEO.

Pay first for just a minor GUI facelift and the rest will come later..... , not even a list of planned features.

Need to think this upgrade over for a while.

Just when things were looking good for Edius and it was gaining some credibility they decide to potentially kill off any gains made.
Very disappointing to say the least.

Totally agree!!
There was a feature (measuring loudness) which worked OK - what happened: Has been drawn away.
I am a middle-european and dont understand that world.
Or did I oversee something ??

I looked at the FAQ EDIUS 8 and more details in the manual to see what the difference is between EDIUS Pro 8 and EDIUS Workgroup 8. I personally don't think I will miss any of the Workgroup 8 features. Although I'm a bit concern about the missing Audio monitoring mode, I don't know what it is and if I need it.
In the FAQ there is a new STORM 4K I/O mention, but only the Workgroup version supports it. I hope they change their mind, I love Grassvalley cards.

Here the missing features of EDIUS Pro 8 (only Workgroup 8):
  • Does not supported Formats CMF, DNxHD Optional, Dolby Digital Professional
  • No Edit while recording capture
  • No FTP upload/download
  • No Automatic registration of clip with EDIUS Watch Tool
  • Not Optimize for Two CPUs
  • Not able to Use in offline environment. (Requires occasional network connection)
  • No Pass-through of the audio bitstream
  • No Pass-through of the ancillary data
  • No Audio monitoring mode
  • No Preroll editing
  • No Title Insertion Mode
  • No Loudness meter
  • No Interaction with GV STRATUS Optional ―
  • No K2 connection (SAN) Optional
  • No K2 connection (FTP) Optional
  • No Interaction with EDIUS XRE

Can someone tell me what an "Title Insertion Mode" is?
Will VisTitle becomes blocked in Edius Pro? :D

Audio & loudness monitoring are essentially these days.
I wonder how this can be excluded from Pro version?

You will not lose any title functionality.
Title insertion mode is something which broadcast editors need, you won't miss it.

Vistitle will work just fine in Edius 8. Once the installer is released you will be good to go.

My decicion has been made already for workgroup version! ;)
But I just wonder why such essential tools gets excluded from Pro version.
I even wonder why Dolby Pro Option is impossible for those who want it?
Why not selling a plugin to interested users?
