Ron, I don't like caching. Disk space decreases in sight. If I have a problem playing in Edius, I just reduce the quality of the preview. I submitted curves vs curves as a request for Edius 10. But for now I am dealing with Chrominance presets. I will share them. And also RGB curves in PCC. I understand you. I would like to have these curves myself in Edius.

I don't use caching in Resolve, my system and drives do not need for my source files. Compared to EDIUS it will play 4K files with no reduction in preview. I think Barry has confirmed this on his new system. I think it was 3 or 4 times faster when he stopped adding tracks. On my Threadripper with preview at 1/2, CPU is 100% and it still will not play consistently in EDIUS. In Resolve will play 2 or 3 layers of UHD with CPU at 50% and GPU at about 50% too. No comparison. Honestly I do not like the multicam in Resolve or I would have switched. So you can see my workflow. Edit in EDIUS multicam, audio in Vegas and corrections to colour if needed in Resolve.

All these NLE's are attempting to meet all requirements from their base. At the moment Resolve is improving faster than the others. Look forward to EDIUS 10.

What is "the red issues"? I have some experience with GH5 but haven't seen it.

In certain light conditions and materials, deep red gets produced as orange. In my case costumes on stage as the actor walks across stage and passes different lights their costume ( like a dark royal red costume ) changes from the real red colour to orange. Can also get this trying to shoot a dark red ( like old UK telephone box colour ) in sunlight. Changing WB has no effect. Effect is on GH5 and GH5S.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I have been lucky not to have had that issue so far.

Happens in HLG mode on my GH5 for sure.

Best solution for me is in Resolve but there is a way in Edius, not as good but could help some. Thoff made a nice tutorial back in the day on how to use Edius WB filter in 'Color range' mode to isolate and then adjust hue and tone in specific areas, such as sky.

Look for EdiusWBCC.wmv

Use Chrominace for that. It's much better. Soon I'łl make a tutorial and I'll share my presets

GH5S is not as bad as GH5 but it is still there. Vlog does not seem to have as much trouble in this regard so I have switch to using Vlog for all my current shoots. Managed to catch a deal on Vlog for the GH5 so that both cameras now shoot Vlog. All shoots are UHD 60P. Of course it is not always a problem as the red is very specific and is not always present in the scene.
