Default Freezing since windows 7

I have been using Edius 6 since it came out on VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 bit. All has been fine.. NOW, in the past 2 weeks I have upgraded my PC from VISTA to WINDOW 7 PRO 32 BIT. Ever since that, Edius 6 seems to freeze and stutter video more then it ever did with vista. In fact, tonight I was editing and playing a preview and marking in and out points and the entire program froze for no reason.

Is there anything I need to do to get this to work properly on windows 7?

Thanks....

First thing to try would be update your GPU driver to the latest WHQL version and report back.

Any issues with still images on the timeline ? update quicktime.

Are the any exclamation marks in the Device Manager ?

Did the upgrade went smoothly, any freezes while upgrading forcing a restart / reboot ?

Did you perform an upgrade install or a Format C: clean install ?

Your System spec's please !!!

Format C: clean install is the only way

upgrade install is asking for trouble

Maybe for you, you are lucky that upgrades in place for Windows works. It only cause me misery ... enough of that. I always do a clean install from now onwards.

That means it didn't work 100% :)

I have only once upgraded in my entire life, that was a vista laptop to 7 upgrade, free disc from manufacturer, can not clean install or something.

I must admid after a 3 hour + upgrade process it works flawless but only word, exeleration and firefox are used on the machine.

Every other pc I own has always had a clean instal from CD and nowadays DVD and that should be the only way for trouble free operation.

Hopefully a GPU driver update will work for you.

After re-reading your post I noticed a nVidia 9800 card in your system, when I installed win 7 fir the first time on 2 machines I also had nothing but freezes, it was due to the standard GPU driver that windows installs which the 9800 series doesn't like.

You might have a chance after all :)

Then again, if it was my pc I would do a clean install, no doubt regarding that.

Format C: is my middle name :)

Installed Latest 9800 GT Drivers.. How do I know what CUDA driver is installed?? There was the regular 9800GT drivers and then a different cuda driver but a lower version number.. latest 9800GT drivers still have issues with freezing.. I can use any other editing program and it works fine.. ONLY EDIUS 6 freezes while playing in the left preview and marking in and out points...

Well, it appears if I Lower the amount of playback buffers it isnt freezing.. dont know why 512 works on vista but not on windows 7.. We'll see if it freezes...

UPDATE: this time froze playing back the timeline on the right hand window and then stuttered and froze.. then about 5 minutes later it unfroze and I could press play again...
