Default external GPU

Hi
I work with Edius 9.5 on an Asus laptop with an i7-7700HQ processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 4GB.
The system is on an SSD, the data on an external SSD.
On the laptop the editing works perfect with several tracks and the Multicam mode up to three tracks.
But when I attach my UDH screen, the whole thing becomes much slower.
Would an external GPU with the UHD monitor attached give me a better performance?
The connection would be via Thunderbold, the external graphics card would be in an EGPU case.
Many thanks for your tips, possibly also for a suitable external graphics card / EGPU.
Greetings Ernesto
