Hello friends, I have a pc with an I7 4790K +32 GB ram + ssd 240 GB x operating system + HD sata 1 TB for files and cache + RX 580 8gb + windows 10 pro + Edius pro 8.5.
For now I do eding in fullHD and I work well, but I would like to buy a Lumix G80 that records in 4K, I wonder if it will be possible to work well with this PC, perhaps by converting the 4K files in dnx canopus. Thanks to those who help me giving me good answers.

I would try to find some 4k clips from the camera to download and test on your system first. 4k is tough to gauge. Playback and encoding take a lot of resources. But it depends upon your workload.

As Bassman said try some 4k clips. Also, 10 bit, 422 long GOP clips may tax your system so try those. My system had a little trouble with 400Mbps ALL-I.

Thanks for your advice but I do not pretend to work with native 4K files, I would also be good to convert them into codec Canopus HQX or similar, you say you can do?
thank you

Converting to HQX can buy you a lot of performance headroom. I don't edit 4K myself, but have done some tests out of curiosity. Native test files from a camera that I had downloaded were very problematic, and didn't play smoothly (sorry, I can'r remember what the camera was, but they were H264 based compression), but conversion to HQX fixed the issue.
I have advocated this step to others that complain about playback performance, and some have been able to use footage that is higher resolution than 4K without problem on a similar system to yours and mine. It does mean that you will need a lot more drive space and fast enough drives though, as the HQX files are a lot less compressed, therefore needing more space and more available bandwidth. HQX can give an older system a new lease on life, as long as you can provide the drive space and bandwidth, as it is the native codec of Edius, and therefore one of the ones it works with in the most efficient way possible. If you search some of my posts and some of the posts by David Harry (Liverpool TV), you will find some information and examples of the performance gain from HQX.

Thanks friend of your advice, the huge HD space for me is not a problem, I could use a HD of 1 or 2 TB for files converted to HXQ, at least I can work well with the 4K without changing my PC that would be very later expensive for sure.
I will look for your posts and the friend you are talking about and you can thank me again.

These two clips are from the Lumix G80. They are 8bit 4:2:0 files at 23.98.
I can work with these files all day long. I have GH5 10bit files as well. The 29.97p 3840x2160 files will play on my system. I can do 8bit 59.94p 3840x2160 files as well. If you are running at 4.0GHz, you will probably run into issues with higher frame rate clips. If you are only using 25p, you shouldn't have any issues. 50/60p require a bit more horsepower. https://player.vimeo.com/play/683231...ain&download=1 https://player.vimeo.com/play/683233...ain&download=1

Try this one:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YFr...ew?usp=sharing Make sure that the correct project settings are used for each clip. The Lumix is 23.98p 3840x2160 8bit. The GH5 is 29.97p 3840x2160 10bit.
