Default EOL for GV Hardware?

I've noticed that BHPhotoVideo sells GV Hardware with "NO RETURNS." The GV website doesn't even list any capture hardware (Storm Mobile, etc.) up front anymore.

It's apparent that no new hardware is in the pipeline and old stock is being sold off.

I wonder how much longer GV will support the latest hardware they sold in upcoming versions of Edius?

GV hardware production ceased a while back. If you want a card with the pcb quality of the GV hardware, look into AJA.

If your buying decision is based on price, look at the BM line up.

You can check long term product support (LTPS) here:
https://www.grassvalley.com/support/ltps/
Also info on EOL.

Also best to check to compatibility list for EDIUS 9.xx
http://www-en.ediusworld.com/about-e...ware-solutions

We will support our supported boards trough the life cycle of 9 . I cannot comment beyond that.

As a user of TV monitors for reference, the industry standard method of assessing quality of video output, it is utterly disappointing that GV has chosen to abandon dedicated hardware production for Edius in favor of flunky 3rd party suppliers hardware.

As 4K is becoming more accepted we have no method of 50/60p preview at HDR from 3rd party suppliers, or any form of 4K from GV at all in a single card format.

I don't really want to risk breaking features with driver updates or the complication of adapting workflows from 3rd parties! or loosing the rock solid integration when Edius introduces new features or upgrades software with its own hardware.

Come on guys...how hard it is to make a 12G Storm equivalent card these days, really!

Maybe you could outsource manufacture to AJA/BMD under your spec, but please do something!

Doesn't the BMD 8K Pro card do what you want?

https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/...specs/W-DLK-34

That only gives you SDI then you need

https://www.aja.com/products/mini-co...rs/hi5-4k-plus

Other than those two at around 1,000 for the two it is the AJA Kona 4 card at 2,100

Grass Valley would continue making hardware if enough people were buying it to make a profit. But as soon as you support cheap Blackmagic cards most people buy those rather than GV cards which were definitely better quality.
The Blackmagic cards are not perfect but cheap and work "well enough" so that's what we all end up with.

If you want a GV quality card, AJA cards are as close as you're going to get....in both price and quality.
