Default TMPGEnc h.264 plugin not keeping my resolution setting with Intel Quick Sync enabled

I was all excited about getting Intel Quick Sync enabled, however, when I enable it in the TMPGEnc h.264 plugin, the plugin is not keeping my resolution setting. I have set it three times to 3840x2160 and the end result will come back 1024x2160. Viewing the video in VLC shows a really small image, about 3x4 inches on my monitor.

I have been using this plugin for several months and the only change today has been to use the Quick Sync hardware encoder.

Edius 7.50.198

I don't believe the AVC Movie plug in supports UHD encoding.

Can you try it without quick sync. IIRC correctly the plug support resolutions up to 4096 2120

I have been encoding UHD for the past week without a problem. Only when I enable Quick Sync does it alter the UHD setting.

I will check with Pegasys if this is a bug. I have been able to reproduce it.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

(I think Has well quicksync should allow UHD)

Thank you. Who is Pegasus and is this a Intel video driver issue or a TMPGEnc software issue?

If you are using Quick Sync you will be limited to HD. If you use x.264 you will be able to get 3840x2160 output. It's been like this as long as I've owned it.
Here is the link to the features page: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/e7mp4.html
Quick Sync can't do Level 5.x, which is what is needed for UHD. 4K is only achieved with x264.

I just loaded the Edius 8 AVC plugin version trial and it is the same. It appears the only thing different is the plugin location. Also, I just tried this in Mastering Works 5 and Intel QS is also stuck at
HD. I would have hoped that the Edius 8 version included updates from MW6.

You can export UHD AVC directly from the the Edius timeline using the Edius exporter and Quick Sync. This is at Level 5.1.

I believe UHD is available with the AVC Movie plugin for Edius 8.
Thank you. I saw the 5.2 requirement but did not know what that really meant.

I'm so pleased I spotted this thread. I downloaded the trial last night and I was going a little crazy trying to put the size back to UHD.
Everytime I changed one setting the other would change, I just thought I was doing something wrong.

Does anyone have good encoding settings for UHD as the default setting gives an awful looking video, I assume it's not a restriction on the trial version as I wouldn't buy it based on the awful video that's produced with the defaults :)

For something which has just been released I expected a few more standard device and upload service presets to be listed?
