Default Eizo monitor support in Edius 9.31

With regard to Edius 9.31, and this new feature......."Monitor control supports EIZO ColorEdge CG279X (only Workgroup)"

What is the nature of the monitor control and how is it intended to be used?

If you have a supported EZIO monitor connected EDIUS will switch the monitor to the appropriate color space without the need to use the OSD menu from the EZIO.
The EDIUS project setting will dictate what the monitor will be set to.

Steve beat me to it. We demoed this at NAB last year. Nice if you have one of those monitors.

Thanks guys,

So does this support other Eizo monitors like the the 4K CG3145 or CG319X. Is it desirable to use a 4K PC monitor with Edius at all, or is the CG279X at 2560x1440 the best ratio monitor to use with this program?

Double clicking on the clip window will give a full screen replay. Will that replay match the quality of a 10bit external monitor connected to an appropriate video output card, or just better approach it?

Ive got to admit I would like to use more robust calibrated monitors for all our imaging work!

regards

Jim

You wil need a dedicated output card to monitor the signal as you want.
Both monitors you mentioned are supported .
You can check your self which monitors are currently supported by going to System stetting-> Hardware->Monitor control.

Make sure to connect the control cable of the Ezio. :)

Thanks Steve,

I am operating 8.53 at the moment and have a copy of 9 yet to be installed in a new PC.

I did check the online manual for 9 and the file I interrogated just showed XXXXXXXXX for the various items. In other words it had been left blank.

So I am in the dark re this atm.

Just installed a new copy of 9 for a client and snipped a copy of the system settings hardware Tab from the Settings menu which shows the monitor options.

So the monitor controls are for Eizo only at this stage:

Eizo CG3145
Eizo CG318-4K
Eizo CG248-4K
Eizo CG319X
Eizo EV2785-HL
Eizo CG279X

With regards to Steve's comment above "You will need a dedicated output card to monitor the signal as you want"

Is this dedicated output from an I/O card like a Storm 3G or BMD 4K Intensity Pro, or a graphics card for the PC? Just slightly confused how this feature is meant to be used...

If you are purchasing such a high quality monitor using the GPU to monitor the Video signal would not give you the most accurate results.

You need an I/O card or device like BM, AJA and such to monitor a true signal.
It can also be a Out only if available.

According to this thread the Eizo CG3145 monitor I bought early this year is on the list supported by Edius 9.

Initially, using Edius 8.53 I was limited to max of 4K 25p from my IP4K card but as I now also have a Ninja V for my GH5 and now shoot a lot of 10bit 4K 50p HLG, my monitoring requirements got a lot greater. To this end I recently added the Decklink Extreme 12G card to my computer which outputs all this high frame rate 10bit HDR stuff to my Eizo perfectly, at least it does when using Resolve.

However as I still have a penchant for Edius I am wondering if upgrading from Edius 8.53WG to Edius 9WG would give me the same full monitoring I have now got used to?
