Default firewire problem in win 10

Dear Edius fans,

friend has new PC MSI motherboard + edius 8
in device preset edius doesn't respond to ieee1394 via firewire controller.

(in Magix it does operate all right)(don't say:Use Magix)

any clues?
thanx Hans

You may need to use the Windows legacy firewire driver. I don't have Win10, so I can't give exact details, but there have been a few posts on the forum already regarding doing this in Win10. A quick forum search should be able to find it.

there is no need for a legacy driver in Win10

all you need is a Firewire 400 card with VIA or Texas instruments chip

Firewire 800 cards or other chips won't work

Here is one I just used the other day and it works perfect

If you already have a FireWire card installed, definitely try the legacy driver.
