Default Windows 7 and Edius

OK, I've done some searching here in the forum regarding Windows 7 and I see some issues regarding performance. Anyone with actual experience on the matter? How does the new Microsoft's OS interact with Edius? Which version is the best? Please report any experience

Window 7 is not officially supported. There have been reports on numerous issues on some systems. Some people have reinstalled Vista to get smooth performance. Others have reported that it works great.
I think that if you earn a living with your system it is better to stick with an officially supported OS ad have a second system for experimenting. That way you know you always have a working system to fall back on.

Absolutely. It's just that under Microsoft's policy - at least here in Greece - with every new workstation the newest OS usually comes as a must. I still run XP Pro on my 2 workstations but as work comes rushing in and needs grow bigger, hardware improvement becomes necessary. I only wish that at some point Grass Valley considers support of Edius on Mac OS X :-)

I doubt that will happen, but, you can always give Steve Jobs a call a let him know that Grass Valley is for Sale.

:-) Good one. I tend to think, though, that Edius 5 with Booster incorporated AND Mac support will throw many competitors out of the market. Why don't the guys at Grass Valley think of this as an option?

Is always the same situation ?
And with experience, is XP better than W7 on the same machine (RAM management, RT, ...) ?

No more problems with Windows 7 Ult. 64Bit and Edius 5.12 or FCB with SW V.1.02.
It works great and is utilizing a lot more of my memory.

The reports have been mostly good. There are also a couple of existing threads on this subject. I am running Win 7 64 bit Ultimate with 5.12 and so far haven't found any problems. It is as stable as Win XP SP3 that was previously installed on my machine.
