Default Edius 8 and Edius 9 plug-ins on same PC?

I only have Edius 8.53 at the moment, but thinking about updating to Edius 9.

I know you can have Edius 8 and Edius 9 together on the same PC, but what about plug-ins?

I have Vistitle 2.8, various NewBlue and Prodad products with Edius 8. If I have both versions of Edius on the same PC are the plug-ins shared, or would I have to buy extra licences?

If I am able to use the existing plug-ins without purchasing new ones, how are they installed if I get Edius 9?

they will work in both as long as you copy them from the 8 plugins folder to the 9 plugins folder

Thank you Anton.

I assume that I can try this out using the trial version of Edius 9?

Just because you can have both versions on your system doesn't mean that you shouyld. Maintenance time increases, especially for updates. Personally, I would do a completely clean install for Edius 9 and get it as solid as possible over having both versions installed. Why complicate your life.

Hi Jerry
I don't think Edius 8 would get any updates.

The only reason for me to have both Edius 8 and Edius 9 on the same PC , is to see if I would benefit from an upgrade to Edius 9. If I did get Edius 9 , I would uninstall version 8.

OK, that's fine . I just want to see what Edius 9 can offer me compared to Edius 8. So 30 days of a trial should do that.

Just my 2 cents.

I use 2 PC's with both version. It works very well but "certain filter" is not memorise from project saved with 8 and re-opend with 9.

This is the case for "stabilization". It ask some times in E8 to be calculated but is memorised in the project files that grows.

Re-opening with E8 : perfect

Opening with 9 : all clips with stabilization have to be recalculate.

For many others filters it is full compatible between 8 & 9.

But, I have not made a test for all of them.
