In the systems I build, If the on board graphics is DVI, I connect a DVI to HDMI cable from the on board graphics card to the HDMI output on the main graphics card.
If the on board graphics connector is HDMI, I connect a HDMI cable to the main graphics card HDMI output.
Windows 10 Pro system. Quick Sync works, the second monitor is enabled without using a second monitor attached.

There were motherboards that using a terminator on the output of the onboard graphics could fool the system into working. Also, plugging a second cable into the back of the monitor would sometimes work.

I was never able to get either of these to work on my Asrock boards. It's easier to just connect to a monitor and be done with it.
Thanks Jerry! It seems QS is at least 3-4x faster than the CPU I have it on (4770k, an older i7 CPU).

However the Intel HD4600 is so underpowered it stutters the second 27" monitor it's attached to, trying to drive 2560x1440.

Need to find another solution.

Won't this cause any electrical issues and damage parts?

Just tried HDMI to HDMI and it didn't work.

I'll just connect a second monitor I have laying around to enable QS.

For some weird reason QS shows up in HandBrake but not EDIUS without a monitor connected.

I also tried installing a 2014 Windows 8.1 driver on windows 10 and it still didn't help.

Sorry for bumping the thread.

So I connected iGPU to another monitor and EDIUS drops frames like a mad man.

When I disconnect the iGPU it goes back to normal (obviously QS disappears).

I thought iGPU is a separate part of the die on the CPU?

(to clarify)

I have EDIUS program monitor as full screen on the iGPU display...so maybe that's why. I'll just connect a standard LCD to it and just open a browser window or something.

Argh....

Latest Win10 + Latest Intel HD drivers

I tried an older version of the driver of Intel HD drivers from way back in 2014. (for Win 8.1).

Also read your guide and disabled auto update for Intel HD drivers.

If you're running Windows 10 1607 or above, try this driver.
This is a driver known to work with 4th gen chips and is rock solid.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...Windows-15-40-

If it does work for you, then you have a baseline from where to start. I'm running a newer driver version, but if I have issues I always install 4300 just to get back on track.

Make sure all Bios items related to the igpu are turned on.

I know I am a little different to most of your setups since I run everything off my i7 4790K, no GPU card. Admittedly my projects are at least 1 hour 15 mins and for this short dance program QS took 35mins and software just about 1 hour. Latest version of EDIUS seems to work fine with the latest Intel driver. EDIUS version is 8.5. I could not tell the quality difference on either of my playback setups for this program material to Bluray. Data rate was 25Mbps average, 37Mbps max. Authoring was DVDArchitect, burning, Nero.

That timeline had 1 track from my GH5 in UHD60P, 1 track from my FDR-AX1 UHD 60P, a track from the AX53 HD60P and track from AX100 HD60P. I have just the one 32" monitor attached and preview via the Spark card ( yes it still works with WIN10 and EDIUS 8.5, waiting for a card that does UHD60P before I change it ) I need to run preview at 1/4 for multicam editing and 1/2 for full playback though sometimes it will work at full. Have to wait and see what Christmas presents make that faster !!!
