Default Edius to FLV with Alpha

I've read quite a bit on the issue of getting a video with alpha into a FLV. Sadly, I'mnot sure of the answer.

From Edius I export chromakeyed Canopus HQ AVI. Alpha appears to be in place. I run it through the Flash Video Encoder and the video is flipped and made translucent. I can run the mirror filter to invert the video but not sure about the translucence.

Same deal happens if I try exporting as Quicktime animation with milions+ colors. MOV appears to have alpha but once encoded, the FLV is translucent. as if transparency was added to the layer.

FYI, I am using Edius 5. DirectX is probably not the latest - does it matter?

I aplogize again for beating this horse but I didn't get a clear understanding of a workaround.

I thought the upside down problem was fixed? I am using Flix Pro for converting HQ to FLV and there is no problem (other than that Flix Pro only uses 1 of my 8 cores :( )

How did you export? What did you use?

I used Procoder Express from edius, exporting both Canopus HQ .avi and Quicktime Apple Animation with 1+ colors.

The upside down issue may have been fixed but I am using older software, neither the latest Edius nor the latest Flash encoder. I'm going to get a trial of Flash CS4 to see if the new encoder fixes the problem but inthe meanwhile...

I am subject to the limitations of corporate software procurement.
If someone recognizes the translucence issue with FLVs, maybe there is a setting I can tweak to get the desired result.

Tried the latest Flash encoder. No cookie. Video translucent.

Got the desired result via Ultra and exporting as uncompressed. Yikes, :31 video is 1.29 GB, a bit unwieldy for me to move between machines at work.

Wish I knew the secret to getting the Canopus HQ codec in Edius 3 and the Flash encoder to work together to presrve the alpha. If there is way...

I hear you.

Ultra 2 produces a good key but getting high quality HD out is very time consuming and takes up a lot of hard drive space.

Looking into the CS4 suite for greenscreen/flash web delivery.

Edius just does not have a good angle to produce this type of output.
