It's such a shame we can't keep Edius x32 in Program Files(x86) while also installing the 7 to try out. It's such a pain reinstalling Edius with all the plugins, profiles and presets.

There is no plural eyes for EDIUS 7. For the latest plural eyes there is no plug for EDIUS 6.5 just to put things in perspective.

Perhaps you have an "old" harddrive that you could clone from your systemdrive and use for test. I do that a lot.

I never got plural eyes to work in 6.0x either, but I normally only use 2 cameras and audio from my Roland R26, and with a slate it's quite easy to sync up.

If you have many more cam's it might be a different story...

Yes that is an issue as I still have Vegas 10, 11 both 32 and 64 bit as well as Vegas 12 all happily running on the same PC. Just been too lazy to remove!!! That was even true for Adobe. The only SSSE3 PC I have is my editing PC with 6.07 so I am not going to play with that but of course I would love to try 7 as I will upgrade but will likely make a new PC for that after its released.

I will put decent money on the YUV keyframe issue since version 4.x has not been fixed!

Frustrated by what edius IS and knowing what it could be!
There are SO many things wrong with this thread. IMO this is because there are just as many people that have NO IDEA what Edius is, or what the competition offers.

SO - let's take a case in point...

Transitions? Let me look... No... I don't see many transitions that can't already be made by the layout editor in about 5 seconds flat that are used by editors these days, although there was a time in 1980....flying hollywood 3D cubes spheres and blah blah - sorry just pulling your chain :)

To be honest, only Edius gives any serious editor the necessary tools needed to 'Edit Anything' - the rest is just features that don't belong in an editor IMHO.

Hey man, if you need transitions use the 3rd party stuff - but then again I would suggest not to use transitions in the first place, but hey that's just me.

64 bit in Edius is what the more prof market has waited for since mpeg4 went into 10bit iframe and RED came with budget DI raw formats. 64 bit is the dot over the i for Edius in terms of software expansion into a market where 10bits are the absolute norm. Even in terms of the 'BIG PICTURE' market right now, that's really only just starting to move away from 8 bit into 10 acquisition formats as standard.

We already got this award winning Edius software with format support built in, 10 bit support up to 4K, marvelous editing and conversion tools, 10 bit FX and color support, and the best realtime playback support of them all.

- ALL THIS for a 32 bit NLE system. What can those clever developers do with Edius 7 code on a 64bit platform in the future releases of Edius? Will the development of Edius stop if the product gets too big, or popular?

I am hoping that since the GV concern have poured large amounts of cash into Edius' development, and has expanded it into this great application - that they don't get 'grey suited' ie. bought by the competition to sell like FAST//Pinnacle got traded to Avid - who killed it because if offered a budget alternative to Avid's monopoly on an expensive dinosaur of a 10 bit workflow. The avid editor might also recognise any company that has since been 'assimilated' by Blackmagic and sent to China, for the same expansion purpose - the same suited types that made Apple an absolute joke in the professional industry (we all know Apple died after FCP 7.07).

GV has been for sale a few times and it seems that the GV administrators have developed Edius into what they need it to be right now - it seems to be a world developed for editors by editors - jump on the realtime bandwagon etc.

I for one - am positive for the continued development of this great software under the current GV administration over the last 5 years...

Just searched for details on DaVinci colour correction from Edius 7 - is this current or to be added later - can't find specific formats nor info on how this is achieved - maybe i missed something....

Thanks

Paul :-)

I have not used it as yet but my understanding is that they have added a new field to the EDL which uses the file name as the clip name. You load your files into Davinci, export an EDL, and when you export and EDL from EDIUS back to DaVinci it automatically relinks to the originals.

Its on my to do list to try out properly with my Blackmagic cinema camera footage and then do a video about it.
