Default Single Folder for Renders in Edius 7?

Hello,

I don't think this exists but wanted to check before making a feature request.

I make a new folder for every project I do. Over time, my project drive starts to fill up and I need to go delete some rendered files to make space. It is tough to know where the large files are and searching the many folders takes time. It would be great if One folder could hold all of the renders, even if there are sub-folders inside this one folder. That way it would be easy to monitor and cull back when needed.

Thoughts? Thanks.

You can do that by adding the rendered folder of eaach project to a library example "EDIUS rendered folders" of windows.
This way when you click the library all the rendered folder you have added are seen in one go.

Also typing rendered in the search bar is very easy.

What you also can do is create a new library and save the search Rendered to that library.
This way it will be dynamically updated with the rendered folder of each new project.
When you click that library you will see all your rendered folders.\

Steps:
Create a new Library name EDIUS rendered folders
Click include folders
Make a new folder name Dynamic search Rendered
Go to your video drive
Search rendered
Choose save search
save to the folder Dynamic search Rendered

Now each time a new Project is created its rendered folder will be displayed in the dynamic folder. (it will not duplicate just point to it)
Libraries are accessed via the icon on your taskbar
Easy

I think this is more a use windows features then a feature request.

Thanks Steve. I started with just typing "rendered" into the search tab of my "Video Projects" folder. Very happy to find out that folders and individual files came up in the search. So I just selected the individual files and deleted them, leaving the empty folders behind.

I will look into the dynamic library setup.

Glad I could help. A few things are nice to setup in windows to make your editing life easier. :)

maybe, a silly question..

gives a way, in win_7 to reduce the search result (or the search key) generally to >folders only< ??

I try it, but it ends with up all folders named "rendered" ... what i wish
but additional, with all files (from some other applikations or self named) the include in the name "rendered"

change, behind the search, as second step, set the view to "Details" >> go to "Typ" >> mark >file folder< to reduce .... I know
but this is a unfavorable second step

IIRC ....in XP the "search options" are more extensive on this part ??

Just add a search filter Kind: and chose folder and the name rendered

You can manually add this or when you click in the search input dialog you will see "add search filter"
If you save the search you only do this once.

All this is basic windows and goes beyond the scope of EDIUS. :)
