Default No PIX with Canon GX10 4K MP4

Didn't expect this....

EDIUS 9 - neither HD or UHD timeline. MP4 out of Canon GX10 4K (same file output as the XF400 and XF405 camera) - no picture output on EDIUS monitor when MP4 is UHD pix - 3840. There is a picture icon on the bin, and a picture icon at the head of the timeline file, but timeline runs with black picture. Canon MP4 at 1920 plays just fine. Also Sony NX80 UHD (3840) MP4 file runs on both EDIUS HD and UHD timelines just fine.

Further exploration: The Canon MP4 UHD file DOES play in Windows Media Player.

Scratching my head! Solution?? Thanks guys.
Alan

Thanks Steve. Good idea, but Quicktime is enabled, and still no pix. UHD from Sony (MP4) has good pix. Canon -nada! Restarted 3 times, just in case. Funny - there's a picture icon at beginning and end of file on timeline - but no runny!

We'll keep trying - and thanks for this try!

Is it possible to share a short clip so we can try?

Steve - can't even get into the clip to edit shorter. Test scene runs about 1min 45, and is too big. I just converted it to ProRes422 - and it plays good - except the conversion rendered down from 3840/59.94 to 1920/23.98 which is terrible. Looking for a converter to do this correctly, and will report back. I'll try and see what I can do about sending a short file. Tomorrow!
Thanks,
Alan

Steve - Too large a file (230mb) - so will upload it to Dropbox, and will send you an invitation to download it. Would you kindly PM me your email address - or wherever you might want it sent. File is Canon GX15 (same as FX400 or 405) 3840x2160 59.94fps MP4 onto 300mps SD card. This is the one what EDIUS cannot play.

Hopefully you can see it at all.
Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan:
Just for information:

Dropbox does not need that you know the mailadress of the receiver.

You just have to "generate" a dropbox-link from that file and send that link to GV_SL. Thats enough for GV_SL to load down the file.
See attached screenshot.

Do you have TMPGenc Alan? It could convert to HQX or HQ for you. If you do not have may be worth a trial as I think the trial is for 30 days.

Thanks Ron. I'll try anything. I'll let you know - hopefully!
Alan

Hey Ron - I just looked at TMPGenc, and didn't see a "FORMAT" listing for either EDIUS HQX or HQ. I've never used this encoder, so not sure I'm doing it correctly.
