Default DEAD!

Well this is a first - I have a terminal windows install on my Edius 9 system - several hours trying to repair it without success. I installed a new intsance of Windows and can get at the original Edius install - but of course the licence is no longer valid as the computer ID or whatever has changed - so can't de-activate the licence.

C drive is a Samsung SSD which is reported as having some random boot issues -

On the phone to GV to try and return the licence so I can start a fresh installation -

Bummer - back to Edius 7 for the time being to finish the project

Hi Paul,

Your Edius 9 Jump serial number is clear. Please get back to Support with your Edius 7 serial number since it is not registered in the system against your Edius ID. When activating Edius 9 Jump, both Edius 9 Jump and Edius 7 serial number is required (free license available) for proper activation.

Not sure I understand this - my Edius 7 pro serial is registered...as are all my previous versions back to Edius 3 - How does one register something "against my ID?"

Edius ID requirement starting with Edius 8 "Pro" and Edius 9 "Pro" requires an Edius ID. This is different from the Grass Valley account product registration. When installing an Edius 9 Pro "Jump" license, you are required to first enter the Edius 9 Jump license and then the next screen should ask for the existing Edius 7 license. Both Edius licenses is then verified that it is free and available for proper Edius 9 registration. You have a case currently opened with Support and your Edius 9 Pro Jump license is available but your Edius 7 license is not registered against your Edius ID "inf*@ so something most likely went wrong with the registration.

OK, I see, I've only had a phone conversation with support so far and I'm awaiting some form of communication - either by phone or email.

Would you suggest I call back with my case ID and give them the 7 registration information?

I see in the notes Support emailed you earlier for your "previous version" of Edius. In your case it should be Edius 7 since your copy of Edius 9 Pro is "jump" version. They also request a screenshot of the error you are experiencing so they can further assist you. Basically, you want to provide them your Edius 7 serial number to verify it has a free license or de-active Edius 7 exiting licenses so it is available when installing Edius 9 Pro jump during registration (if reinstalling Edius 9 Pro) I assume.

So I still have no edit system - this is not resolved - it's now Sunday - why is it everyone gets the weekend off ??

I still have work to finish and deliver - never makes a difference if it's Monday, Sunday or doomsday.

It really doesn't fit the bill to have part time support for a 24/7 industry such as news and media production.

I'm just fed up at paying for an upgrade that won't work - not to mention the time spent installing, uninstalling and testing.

Everything is "underway" Steve - I have an ongoing case - but of course it all stops on Friday at the end of the day - until next week.

I'm not really complaining, just frustrated that no progress can be made just because it's the weekend.

My re seller was GV - via Digital River.
