I have never used that software before, but when I am asked to recommend an entry level software, I always recommend Pinnacle Studio (english and french links below)

https://www.pinnaclesys.com/en/products/studio/
https://www.pinnaclesys.com/fr/products/studio/

https://www.pinnaclesys.com/en/produ...d-recorder-hd/

Pinnacle used to make some of the same kind of equipment that GV makes, such as playout servers and switchers, and they had some really good edit software called Liquid which they acquired by purchasing Fast Multimedia System from Germany in 2001.

They, in turn, were purchased by Avid around 2007, and in typical Avid fashion, they were essentially "killed off" with little to none of the Pinnacle technology being used by Avid. Eventually Avid sold the consumer division of Pinnacle, which makes Studio and Dazzle products and for a short time Avid Studio, which was essentially Pinnacle Studio with a couple of additions that Avid tried to pass off to the Liquid users as a replacement for it.

The Studio products are not nearly as powerful as as Liquid was or Edius is, but were always good products for home/hobby use, and if the user buys the Dazzle products, they even get a little I/O to let them capture video from their old analog cameras.

Several of the people here on the forum, including myself, used to use Liquid, and only came to Edius after Liquid was made EOL by Avid with no suitable replacement from them aside from their Media Composer which for many of the Liquid users, was too "clunky" to use in comparison.

I think the Promo stopped in August.

"Promotion until 31 August 2019: EDIUS Pro 9 Home Edition more than 50% off!"

Can you sell one of your older Edius versions to someone? Not sure how that would work. Should be possible.

240 Euro might be a bit pricey for a home/hobbyist user, and the "complexity" of a pro software is probably much more than the majority of them can comprehend quickly.

Something with the price tag and simplicity of Pinnacle Studo or the AVS software Yvon first mentioned would probably be a better choice for the home user in terms of budget and complexity, and for Yvon in terms of support for the end user.

Getting files to the user shouldn't be a problem. Pinnacle Studio has the following supported file formats:

Import Formats
Video: AVCHD2, DV, HDV, AVI, MPEG-1/-2/-4, Flash, 3GP (MPEG-4, H.263), WMV, Non-encrypted DVD titles (incl. DVD-VR/+VR), MOV (DV, MPEG-4, H.264), HEVC1 (H.265), GoPro LRV

Audio: MP3, MPA, M4A, WAV, AMR, AC32, AAC, Vorbis, WMA
Graphic: JPS, BMP, GIF, JPG, PCX, PSD, TGA, TIF, WMF, PNG, J2K

Export Formats
Disc: DVD, AVCHD, Blu-ray ($)
Video: DV, HDV, AVI, WMV, MPEG-1/-2/-4, Flash, 3GP, H.264, XAVC S, MOV, M2TS, FLV, 3GP, GIF

Image: BMP, JPEG, TIF, TGA

Audio: AC32, MP2, MP3, MP4, WAV

Also of note:
Supported Languages
Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Swedish
