Default CCleaner Blacklisted by Microsoft

This article may be of interest to users of CCleaner or any similar programs.

Most of the more frequent posters have always recommended to not use registry cleaners.
Microsoft has gone one step further.

About time, registry cleaners do harm instead of good, there is no need to clean a registry

Alas Fake News as one person posted on that Forum, "A truthful heading would be "Microsoft blacklists CCleaner on it's support forums".

There are many here who have used CC for 10 years or more. Sure if you clean the registry, then you should make a backup but if you do anything in a registry I have always undersood that to be best practice. Maybe it's time has come but the headline is B/S.
It also seems it is still buggy in Windows 10 and as pointed out here, https://helpdeskgeek.com/free-tools-...ndows-anymore/ Windows 10 does a better job of registry management.

All you have to do is save a copy of your registry. Then if there is an issue, just import the saved registry.
I do this as well as making clones at various stages of the build.

There must be something to it if MS is black listing CCleaner even on the support forums.

I used it years ago and had more issues after the cleaning than before.

I would say, use it at your own risk.

100% agree. Used it twice and screwed up my computer. Out the door.
