Yes it does show changes in 7 and 8 as you have mentioned.

Are you talking about the percentage and db level when you are moving the VOL line? If so, I have those numbers continually showing where my cursor is dragging (as well as the bottom left corner of the timeline).

the numbers at the mouse pointer will only be visible if show tooltip while trimming is enabled

I have it disabled because the trimming tooltip annoys me while trimming
