Default Edius Pro 9 - How to drag only video/audio from player window

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to drag just video or audio to a sequence track from the player window. I know that Shift + K while dragging media from the bin to player window will result in only the video track when I subsequently drag from player window to timeline. But then, if I wanted to use the same piece of media for a different cut with both video and audio, only video will drag to the timeline. Is there a simple way to accomplish this? I'm confused as to why the video/audio icon in the lower left-hand corner of the player window doesn't do this. What is the point of being able to toggle it from A+V or just audio or just video if I can't then drag only that component from the player window to the timeline?

Thanks

Control what comes down to the timeline by using the Track patches located on the far left of the timeline. If you want audio only, turn off the V block. Video only, turn off the A1, A2, etc. blocks.

When you add a clip in the bin . Do a normal drag from bin to player or double click. This will make both the audio and video available.

Then you can use the A or V patches of the timeline to dictate what goes on the time line.
You can add the clip to the time line with the [ or ] keys.

Or drag but look how you drag:

1 Video track pacth on /audio patch off = mouse has to be on a video track when releasing.
If it is on a audio track you invoke track patch override and both the Video and audio will be added.

2 Audio tack patch on /Video off= mouse has to be on a audio track when releasing.
If it is on a video track you invoke track patch override and both the Video and audio will be added.

3 audio or video clip on the timeline and you double click it to go in the player window in order to use both video and audio.
When the clip is in the player:
Press A and then I
Press S then O

The you can the piece with both video and audio on the timeline, provided you have both A an V track patches enabled and or take in to account point one and 2 about the override.
