Default HD Storm or HD Spark

If I'm going the EX1/3 camera path what board is the correct choice, HD Spark or HD Storm.
I want real time external monitor preview.
From what I've been told HD Storm doesn't speed/boost up anything, I don't know.
Spark is HDMI out only to an monitor, but then I don't need HDMI input (as far as I know)
HD Storm + includes the HD Storm bay but it doesn't give me s/vhs input the way my DVStorm Bay does. (update: I was told it does)

(Just want to find out all I can before hand)

Any thoughts please.

If you're purely using tapeless, probably HDSPARK. The only thing you'd miss out on is the HQ encoding chip's boost for export.

If you think you're going to need analog connectivity, you can go with HDSTORM Plus (that's the one with the bay).

Or, HDSPARK + ADVC110/ADVC55 will work fine too for analog capture.

I'm in the same boat. Just about to go tapeless to XDCAM HD, and will need HDMI output preview and the occasional analogue capture. Was thinking the HDSpark + ADVC300 route or HDStorm

I just need to know whether creating Canopus HQ clips of the timeline will be faster with the HDStorm?

HDSpark +ADVC55 will cost me £358+vat (add £126 with E5 upgrade)
HDSpark + ADVC300 will cost me £554+vat (add £126 with E5 upgrade)
HDStorm Plus upgrade will cost me £750+vat (includes E5 upgrade)

The HDStorm plus upgrade actually costs £70+vat more than the HDSpark+ADVC300 (with the E5 upgrade), but you get the Bay, on-chip HQ conversion and HDMI input.

The ADVC300 will give me better analoge capture due to its filter/enhancement/stabilisation features then the ADVC55. Usefull for capturing old VHS footage.
The HDStorm doesn't have any such features, just straight analogue capture, but it does have HDMI input and on-chip Canopus HQ conversion.
I am just waiting for someone to confirm whether the HDStorm speeds up Canopus HQ conversion for clips in the bin and off the timeline (instead of just during capture).
The other point is the HDStorm only captures in Canopus HQ (for analogue aswell I think??).

I am heading towards the HDStorm plus for my main system (if it is faster for HQ clip conversion in the bin and from the timeline), and HDSpark's for my secondary systems.

Does the analogue capture on the HDStorm plus only capture in Canopus HQ?

Yes, Canopus HQ only. Capture to other formats has been requested.

And

If i went for HDStorm just to confirm, is my MB suitable. Is it just a matter of taking out the DVStorm and replacing it with HDStorm

Thanks
