Default Problem installing V6

I have an older dual core AMD setup I use for capture, encoding and capture. It has V6.02 on it and all was good. Last night I started to capture a project on it and Edius would give the splash screen and then prompt for the project name but the interface never came up but the task manager showed 50% CPU load for Edius yet the interface was never there.

I rebooted and tried a few times with no luck. I figured my install may have gotten corrupted. I uninstalled and started to re-install V6. Just after the .net runtime stuff installed Edius 6 started to install and I got the following error

"Error: #16001 System Error"

After the first time it happened I ran CCleaner to clean up the registry and still got the same error the second attempt to install V6.

My dongle was plugged in and the light even came one when the dongle driver was installed. This computer is not hooked up to the internet and there is no antivirus apps running. It is a dedicated machine.

I was using this setup with V6.02 last week with no problem. Any ideas why it won't reinstall the application?

Thanks for any help.

Too add complexity to the mix I tried re-installing version 5.0 and it installed and ran just fine with no problem. Still scratching my head on this one.

I would say you did not uninstall all, because 6.02 has newer hardware drivers than your full 6 installer which is 6 or 6.01

so in add/remove, also uninstall Canopus Hardware Drivers

Never thought of that. I will check that out and see if they are still in the add/remove. I did run CCleaner to fix up the registry but it wouldn't clean up those drivers.

Well I got E6 reinstalled with Anton's help but I still have the problem that the interface never shows up. I start Edius, get the splash screen and then I start a new project. After I click ok nothing happens. No timeline or any windows yet my task manager shows Edius with running with a 50-100% CPU utilization. I let it sit for awhile and still no interface shows up.

Any other ideas out there what may be causing this? I have a new quad laptop on the way so I guess it may be time to pass this system on to my church for using on the projection system. All the other apps still work fine. I installed Edius 5.0 on it today as a test and it worked great. There's something not playing nicely in there.

No it's a third system that I don't have in my profile. It's an AMD Athlon X2 with 2gb RAM and a 72gb 10000rpm system drive. It also has my bluray writer installed internally. It's a little older and was my first HD editing machine. It was working fine a week or two ago with E6 for encoding...just not now. And like I mentioned before it installed and played E5 just fine.

E6 and E5 are totally different animals

if E5 works, don't expect E6 to work

..

And I understand that E6 is a different animal but it was working fine on this same computer a few weeks ago.

Guess it's time to retire it for other duty.
