Default DVD menue-question

Here is what I'd like to do, inside the DVD-exporter of Edius:

I do want two DVD-menue-pages:

1st page:
"Play entire movie", with a seperate choice for "Chapters",
which leads me to:

2nd page:
seperate "Chapters" which I created with the help of markers on my TL.

So far so good:
only problem: when I use the buttons for the seperate chapters, the entire (rest) of the whole movie is played.

I don't want to pick Chapter 1 and see the entire movie from there, but want it to jump back to the Chapter-menue, in order to pick the next part!

In encore there is a kind of "end-action" for each part.

Am I missing something or isn't it possible the way I am trying to do it,
or not possible at all inside Edius?

Thank's for your input!

Not in Edius, but DVDLab Pro and TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 will allow you to do that from what I remember.

I have just done exactly this by downloading DVD architect studio. I didn't use markers though,(seemed too complicated and I am a simple soul!) I just made duplicate copies of the original video then chopped the copies down to the sections I needed.

Then I pulled them in to DVD architect and set up buttons and menus. Easy solution and very quick. Hope this helps
Cheers!

Doesn't this mean you end up with 2 copies on the disc which if it's a long film will mean decreasing the quality to get them both on the same disc.
In Encore it's really easy to make playlists that will just play back the chapter you want, then assign it to a button just like you would with a chapter point, takes much less time than chopping up the video and encoding it out and also means you only have 1 copy on the disc.
Even if you only end up with 1 copy on the disc that you've chopped up you may get a slight pause between each section when you play the video as 1 full piece as the player has to seek out each piece in turn rather than having 1 continuous file to play.
As Harro said earlier TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 does allow you to play a chapter then choose whether it plays the next chapter or goes back to the menu. Not as good as the one in Encore which allows you to set up playlists that can jump around wherever you like, but if you just want to be able to play the 1 chapter then go back to the menu it works fine

Hello Rod,

the funny thing is: before I read your post,
I had the same idea:
the disk I am compiling gives me room/capacity to do so:

a) an encoding of the entire movie

b) a chapter-menue which I fed seperate sequences that I created for each of the 6 chapters.

BUT:
here comes the funny thing:
the Chapters will still keep playing 1 after another!

Is there any strange logic behind it, or did I simply checked the wrong boxes in "Style"?
(I checked "No chapter buttons" and "No chapter menue"..)

My understanding of chapters is: once a chapter is done, it should jump back to the main-menue right?
Otherewise chapters would make few sense to me..!

Hope there is a solution in Edius, otherwise I am back to the point where you guys pointed out: no solution inside edius..

p.s. maybe I should add that I am testing all this just with the VLC-player..but I assume the player is not the one to blame..?

In Disc Burner, you can select return to menu after each chapter or after all chapters play. It is the last tab on the menu within Disc Burner before you click "burn."
