Default Audio distortion in Edius only

Very strange and occuring for the first time:

using BWF-.wav files from a Sounddevice, proper settings: 24bit, 48.000Khz and 3 seperate monotracks.

Result: total distortion, as you can also see in the picture.
(don't get tricked, even the 3rd track is totally packed with strange noise..!)

If I play that file in VLC or any other player, it's just fine.
Same for Premiere, working fine.

Anybody got an explanation for this, or better: a solution?

I did check files from the same sounddevice the day before,
playing fine.

There is no difference between using my existing edit-file and creating a new Edius project..!

Thanks

What kind of encoding is the WAV using? While WAV is usually uncompressed linear PCM, it can contain a few other compression types.

Default ..further information

I did some more testing,
looks like a friend with Edius 5 also has no luck.
(It was mentioned somewhere it could be an issue with Edius 6...)

If I export that file from a different programme, Edius will read the new file just fine.

I realized that the trouble files have a STREAM TYPE set to "Audio File" (direct show) and functioning .wav files are recognized as Stream Types with the regular EBU Broadcast.
So maybe there is the solution..will also talk back to the Audio guy.

If anybody can think of a fix inside of Edius, I'd be happy..!

Sorry Brandon, haven't seen your message before:
it supposed to be a BWF .wav, GSPOT doesn't see a difference to the other (working) file: uncomp. PCM, as the sound device can't really change the encoding. (only Bit depth and sample rate, which are fine..)

Only 2 differences we changed:
It used to be 6 Channels before (3 now..)
and the lockit/TC-information was changed.

But this shouldn't make Edius "hick-up" usually?

Default Edius Bug?

Hello again,

I just did some new tests with the sound guy and we found some very interesting point: If we export 4 channels (1 of them is even without signal..)
Edius can read it just fine.
If we go back to 3 channels (mono channels, but synched into 1 .wav-file) Edius will be in trouble and not read out even one channel correctly.

If there is any way to correct this, let me know.
For now I am re-exporting the .wav files as 4 Channel-data.

p.s. Needless to say: settings where exactly the same for the 3 and the 4-channel files..!

Interesting... That might be a bug. Seems to me that it's valid for someone to want to export 2.1 (3-channel), right?

I personally never heard of anyone using 3 channel audio

EDIUS only supports, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 etc. channels

Hehe..now you did Anton,
never heard of strange germans before?

We are recording a stereo-microphone (2 Channels) and 1 more via Micro port..makes it 3 Channels.

For now we do fake an output of 4 channels and that works well!

If Brandon could report this to Japan headquarters, would be great.
Cheers

Default BWF audio stutters

Hi there.
I am experiencing severe audio distortion when using a BWF file with multiple tracks. The audiotracks are recorded on such a way that we have between 1 and 5 sources recorded within a BWF file.

The Files are Constant Bit rate - 48 Khz, 24 bits PCM tracks (with time of day timecode) which play fine in Quicktime player etc.

As soon as i place them within an Edius project the problem appears.
If the file however is just 1 track from the same recorder the audio is fine,
with 2 or more tracks the problem is there instantly, deleting one or more tracks within Edius does not help.
Any helpful suggestions are more then welcome.

I have attached a small sample of the audio files used.

Regards
Bert
