Default FCB install trouble

Hi

Just got my FCB card and had some trouble installing it.

At first I wanted to install it in my Asus P6T based PC, but I must have done somthing wrong, because I could not.

First I tried slot 3 (PCIEX16_2). New hardware was found and I installed the CD. Hardware was present in device manager with no remarks.
When I launched the FC writer software, I got the message that the board was not found.

Ok then. I switched the graphics card and the FCB card, so that the FCB would be in slot 1 (PCIEX16_1). Same result... :-(

I finally installed it in my Dell Precision T5400 and I get no errors (eyt ;-))

Did I do something wrong reg. my P6T setup - I read it should be ok with that, and it is a straight P6T, no deluxe or anything.

Thanks.

/Ulf

Have you got a 1X slot or any other slots besides the 16X to try it in?

Hi Steve

Thanks.

I actually tried to put it in the 3rd (PCIEX16_3) which is slot 5, and I got no new hardware found at all.

It appears that there is a short PCIEX1_1 slot. Did not try that.

I might want to start out using it on my Dell, and I maybe move it later.

The only thing is. Will it wotk together with Edius 4.6 ? - I have no 5 on my Dell.

Mainly I will use it for a start for AVCHD 2 HQ converting, but will look at BR later too.

I Don't think it will work with 4.6, I have not tried it. I think it was only meant for version 5.

Ok, thanks.

I might want to change either upgrade Ed to 5 or move card back to my i7 P6T machine.

Others with FCB in an Asus P6T - which slot do you use? Slot 2 the short PCIe 1 slot?

Thanks.

answer.. the short PCIe 1 slot, see details in my signature.

The reason I bought the plain P6T in the first place was because David Clarke of DVC UK (a great Edius computer builder) posted that the FCB software did not recognise the card if it was not in a 1x slot.

So I steered away from the deluxe version of the P6T since it doesn't have one of these slots.

This is important information for anyone buying a FCB at the moment.
