Default QuickTime

Windows 10 / Edius 8.22
I've been searching the forum about Quicktime. I know it was a previous issue and Edius removed the need for using it due to a possible virus with it.

I want to use a Quicktime PNG with embedded Alpha MOV from Digital Juice, but seems I need to set up QuickTime importer in the SYS settings for it to work. What it the current status with Quicktime now? Is it safe to have installed or is there a better or another option to work with these files?
Thanks

I have Quicktime on my PC just do not load the player which was the real issue in playing files from the WEB that could contain virus or malware

Yes, +1 for Ron. It wasn't that Quicktime had a virus. The player has a vulnerability that web viruses can take advantage of.

You can do a custom install of quicktime and just install the quicktime essentials, which doesn't install the player, or install the works but just don't use it to play web videos.
