Default Quictime needed for Blackmagic products

I just noticed this on the BMD site...

"Apple QuickTime needs to be installed for some applications to function with a Blackmagic capture card."

I wonder how this affects Edius running on these cards?

99% it doesn't.
BM needs QT more for MediaExprss than actual card functionalities.

Check with BM. DaVinci Resolve 12.5 (free) now runs without QT. BM have developed their own 64bit QT equivalent for Windows. Might work with the capture card too.
