Default Large Converted File Size

My ADVC 110 converts my super 8 tape into iMovie fine but a 42min. video is now 16.5GB in size. How can I reduce this size on the input to burn to a DVD?

I am no apple expert but your DVD authoring software should be able to handle the conversion to mpeg2 ES with max bitrate of 7700kbps for video and 256kbps for ac3 audio
