Default i7 8 Cores and Edius

Aloha,

Does anyone have any render speed feedback on their experience using dual i7's (8 cores) and Edius? Any other feedback about this combo would be nice as well.

I would like to convince myself to get it now instead of later.

Be blessed,
Frederick

UPDATE -
My wife picked me up a machine with dual 2.93 i7's (8 cores). Have not installed Edius just yet so I have nothing to report :(

Thanks for all you feedback.

Running 3.02GHz i7 CPU, 6GB memorey and RAID0 system and it is very fast, editing full 1920x1080 50i is almost like editing SD two or three years ago.

Much the same in my experience - even though I have a dual core, dual xeon system (Woodcrest 5160) the Dell XPS 730X with i7 -965 3.2GHz, 6GB RAM, 3 TB Raid 0 internal video drive performs at least on par if not somewhat better than the Xeon workstation. I would assume that if you would get one of the newer i7 chips (975 - 3.33GHz) and overclock it there would be even better performance.

I don't know if anyone has a dual i7 yet. My system is one of the newest and it screams. The i7 extreme is hyper threaded so I am showing 8 cores.

At least on my Dell it is easy to overcrank to 3.46 (air cooled) or 3.76 (liquid cooled) in the BIOS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RCmJWT15j0

Don't know whether you can do it with your system - might be worth looking into.

Did you build the system yourself? If not what vendor?
