Default help me get unconfused

Does any of the current hardware boards cover HD & SD i still have 100s of DV tape to work on and would require IEE conector, the alternative would be a dual boot I7 with DV storm on one side and HDStorm on the other, would this work ????
I do have a Sony HD deck with firewire and HDMI which could be used to play through to the HD Storm ????

HDStorm Plus should take care of your needs, assuming your Mobo has a firewire connection

Thanks for reply. Are you saying that the DV capture would be via the MB firewire and not HDstorm plus at present the HDstorm is the prefered option on an Asus I7 P6t V2 Board. Also what sort of conversion time are we talking about to convert to a file for making BR Disk or would an FCB be required for speed.

Yes capture your DV through any OHCI firewire chip either on the motherboard or add a separate card, they are cheap as chips (separate card not really.....necessary as most motherboards have firewire...unless you intend to capture multiple DV streams at once) HDStorm does not have a firewire port on board....it is unnecesary really given the opening up of Edius to support OHCI.

You can capture both DV & HDV (HDV is only OHCI) via an OHCI firewire card directly into HDStorm/Spark/Thunder project presets and these presets will allow you to monitor your projects out through the HDStorms HDMI or if the HDStorm Plus via its analog ports (choose a monitor wisely).

If you are only working with SD DV then the HDStorm Plus may not be needed....however if you also work with analog source then it is very useful to have these I/O options.....of course analog inputs can come inuseful for certain types of projects.

Remember the HDStrom does not accelerate the editng process in the same way the DVStorm did.

Dave.

This depends on your processor and your subsystems(hard drive and memory).

Is the WD 1tb drive your OS drive or your video drive. If it is your video drive I would add 1 more and strip it for raid 0. Since you are doing DV you probably can get by with the 1tb internal drive for video. If you decide to go to HD, I would up the processor to a faster speed and add 4 1tb drives to the system as well as more memory.
