Default 4k MP4 (XAVC-S) format to Blu-ray

The sony ax100 produces 4k MP4 (XAVC-S) format and I want to produce Blu-ray writable files. I don't necessarily want to Burn to disc straight off the time line although that is something I will want to do as well and I do not get 1920x1080 29.97 Upper as something I can preset the project to for Bluray output
Also I want to produce a BDAV folder so I can burn more discs down the road

Edit your progressive 4K footage and saved it as a master HQX file. Create an interlaced HD project that matches the Blu-ray output for your territory and add the 4K progressive master to it, use Lanczos for down scaling. Now you can either produce a master HD interlaced HQ file, or go direct to a Blu-ray structure, either with or without burning.

Cheers,
Dave.

Look at these two screen shots. They are setup for 29.97i with Lanczos 3 Resampling activated for your downsampling of 4K footage to 1080i.

Down sampling 4K footage has it's own set of issues. So, you may have to play with it a little bit. This is based on using Edius 7.3x.
The down sampling will be applied to your export or disc burned from the timeline.

You can burn to disc directly from the timeline with this project setting. Most burn programs can take the image information from Edius and using the folders, burn copies of the orignal. Edius doesn't create an .iso but a set of folders.

If you use an external authoring program, such as Encore, just export to either MPEG 2(if it is under two hours) or the Blu-ray Exporter setting found under the H.264/AVC Header in the Edius exporter.

If you have TMPGE MW5, just export to HQ or HQX and import that into MW5 and create your BD compatible files.

Jerry I used the exact setting in your screen shots and with 4k files only on the timeline, tha "burn to disc " option is greyed out

Can you post a screen shot of your project settings. It sounds as if you still have progressive selected.

When you save as a HQX master file do you mean export to HQX?

Yes, that is what he means. He mentioned HQ-it would be HQX if you are editing in 4K. Did you try to change the settings on an existing progressive project?

Export any 4K to HQX and export HD to HQ.

If you are more concerned with quality, as you are doing 2 hours. Check my previous posts with regard to using X264 for doing your encoding.

BTW, it's Footy or Football, not soccer :)

Cheers,
Dave.

nah around here it has to be called soccer because we already have football. A game that does not use feet to move the ball directly (except for one guy called the kicker and only several times during the game) so to differentiate the two footy football is called soccer and football is Football
