Default Edius not using Graphics card?

I have some footage from a RED camera that Edius 8 can't even play back but Adobe Premier can on the same machine.

I just read that Edius is more CPU based for its core functionality and it's not even using my 8GB card. Is there a way to have it use the card? I really don't want to switch software.

No GPU use on Edius except for some third party plugins.

Implementation of RED on PPro is way better - uses GPU for Mercury Playback and has a decent RED plugin -

Either convert the footage to HQ or work in Premiere - check the RED User Forum for workflow details on all available platforms considered use-able, don't think Edius is mentioned - but Resolve does a reasonable job for free with accelerated GPU playback.

It's your call really, don't get bogged down with what you want to work with, pick the tool that's best and get the job done - it's the beauty of Windows based systems, you can carry a massive arsenal of weapons to attack that awkward edit and delivery process - Edius has its place but may not be the best for all purposes.

This no longer holds true. Sony Raw and Canon Raw are accelerated in EDIUS if it is set.
The PCC can also be accelerated by the GPU it is set to do so.
(H265 can uses the intel GPU clip.)
